DBC Youth Camp 2018

Dear DBC Family,

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. – Philippians 2:3-4

We were made to serve. At youth camp this year we will be searching out what it means to live selfless not worthless.

You are everywhere. Seriously, have you ever thought about that? Maybe you just snapped a great selfie and sent it to your buddy on snap chat, or heard someone talking about you down the hall at school. Or your boss is upset…again, and of course it’s your fault. You’re all over, everywhere. You cannot escape yourself.  But you can worship yourself. The more you focus on you, (what you want, what you like, who you are and what you do) the less you feel, the less you see. Overflowing with “me, I, selfie, selfish”, there is no room left for others. We become worthless to serve.

But God made us to serve him, to love him, to give ourselves to his work. He made us to live a life serving others continuously. He made us to live selfless.

Will you join us at youth camp this year?

You will see a few changes to this year’s camp packet. The leader’s application now includes a covenant. Please encourage leaders attending camp to take this covenant seriously. In April your church will receive several copies of a training devotional. It is 30 days of spiritual preparation for leaders in ministry. Please encourage your leaders to add this to their daily quiet time 30 days before camp starts. When we pack our bag for camp, we bring all the essentials. Let’s ready our hearts to serve.

We have also modified the Camper’s 10 Commandments. It is now the Camper’s Covenant. While the rules are very similar, please reread them in detail as some things have changed. (Note: boys and girls are now both required to wear a dark T-shirt when swimming).

Joe and Bethany Savery have done a great job this year putting together our camp packet. We will be announcing our camp pastor and worship leader on our Facebook page very soon! If you haven’t already, join our group and stay in the know! Find us on Facebook @Crystal Springs DBC Youth Camp.

We eagerly await the day when we can serve alongside you at this year’s camp!
