New Volunteers & Recertification

Training is open to all adults (yellow cap) and youth at least in 7th grade (green cap)

How to Become a Trained Disaster Relief Volunteer:

  • Before attending any training, please complete the Volunteer Packet and bring it with you or mail it in early.  The Volunteer Packet can be found on website: mwbc.org
  • You must attend the Disaster Relief basic course Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief.
  • You must also attend at least one unit training class.
  • Background Check Authorization – will be completed and must be acceptable.
  • ID Badges will be issued after background check is complete and completed volunteer packet is returned.  The badges will be mailed after the training.

Already a Volunteer with a Cap and a Badge?  To update your credentials for three years:

  • You must attend the Disaster Relief basic course Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief.
  • Update your Personal Information and Release Form if necessary.
  • Background Check Authorization – will be completed and must be acceptable.
  • The new badge will be mailed after the training.

 

Cost is $20 for every NEW volunteer

  • You will order and purchase your own shirt and hat with our order form.

$10 for returning volunteers

  • Wear your hat, shirt, and badge to training!
  • Certificate

  • Background Check (must be completed every 3 years)
  • If you already have your hat, shirt, ID badge, etc., and need to update your credential badge for another three years, you need to attend Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief. You may also attend any additional unit trainings.

Registration Deadline is

August 7, 2017

If there are low registrations in some classes, those will be cancelled.

If you need overnight lodging, the church is offering their facilities.  This will be the same as on a disaster response, by sleeping in the church – bring your sleeping bag/cot/air mattress and personal items.

If you prefer a motel, Quality Inn offers a corporate rate of $69/person.  This will be at your own expense.

Meals are on your own.


Disaster Relief Registration Form

For Training August 18-19, 2017 at LifeChurch, Fargo, ND Pre-registration is required. Deadline is August 7, 2017. Registration fee due at the training.
  • +This course is required every three years for all volunteers including those being recertified.
  • ++Chaplains must complete all three parts of this unit training. (Plus Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief.)

Disaster Relief Apparel: You will be able to order your own Disaster Relief shirts, jackets, sweatshirts. An order form will be available.
