Report on God’s Work on the Standing Rock Reservation

by Julian Burgess

Hey guys.  I am Pastor Julian from Western Plains Baptist Church in Bowman North Dakota.  I wanted to give a little insight from the First Baptist Church—Hurst, Texas mission trip, June 24-28, in Fort Yates, ND on the Standing Rock Reservation. All total, there was 41 people that came to Fort Yates, sharing their time and love for Jesus. I had the awesome opportunity to work with those guys for the week. Part of their goal was to take down a mobile home on the property of First Baptist Church Fort Yates, which took place during the day and was an interesting project in itself.

The more interesting part of the week was the opportunity for ministry at the AJ Agard Multi-Cultural Center in Fort Yates. The team hosted family nights for the residents Tuesday thru Thursday. On Thursday night an illusionist performed and shared the Gospel. Tuesday night there were 168 people, Wednesday night there were 176, and Thursday night 160.  For those three nights there was food, arts and different crafts for the folks to enjoy being a part of.

Along with what was going on in Fort Yates, part of the team was at Tipi Wakan Baptist Church in Cannon Ball, ND, during the day doing arts and crafts and sharing the Gospel with folks.  Overall, the week was very successful with folks hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There were a couple of folks that accepted Christ and the mobile home is now 75% gone.  The guys from First Baptist in Hurst were awesome in all the work that they did. I was blessed to be a part of the week with them. Here is a video of what we saw God do during the week.
