Two Black Hills Churchers Partner to Create New Ministry
Connection Church in Sturgis, SD and Black Hills Baptist Church in Whitewood, SD, have come together to form a new ministry in Sturgis. According to Connection pastor Matt Price, Restoration Ministries is a “Christ-centered ministry whose goal is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to those lost and bound in addictions and strongholds.”
Through this ministry, the two churches are seeking to introduce those who carry the burden of addiction to Jesus Christ who can set them free from their bondage. There are many kinds of addictions, such as alcohol, drugs, sexual sins, as well as others that can trap people into an endless cycle of personal destruction for the individual and those around them. Restoration Ministries is seeking to help the addicted and those impacted by these addictions.
Restoration Ministries has begun as a Saturday night gathering where a meal is served, and a message shared. Price indicated that they want to grow beyond a weekly meeting, though. “Our prayer is that God grows this ministry and changes lives,” he said. “Intentional and relational discipleship will follow.” Price and Black Hills Baptist Church pastor Sean Donnelly expect that this will lead to individuals and families becoming part of a local New Testament church.
The two pastors identified several ways that individuals, churches, or businesses can partner in this effort. Among the greatest needs is intentional and specific prayer “week to week, day by day” for God’s provision of the resources needed, leaders to serve, and for those that the ministry will encounter.
Restoration Ministries can also use Bibles, discipleship materials, gas for transportation, and funds to assist in providing meals and materials. They are also praying for a building to establish discipleship housing.
